Opština Ulcinj obilježila je 9. maj - Dan Evrope bogatim kulturno-umjetničkim programom na arheološkom lokalitetu Šas. Ovaj događaj organizovan je u okviru manifestacije „Noć tvrđava - Goes Green“, koja je ove godine paralelno održana na 72 lokacija u 11 evropskih zemalja, sa oko 230 različitih kulturno-umjetničkih programa.
Tom prilikom obilježen je i početak radova na arheološkom lokalitetu Šas, koji se realizuju u okviru projekta GIFTSnet, finansiranog od strane Evropske unije kroz program prekogranične saradnje Interreg IPA Hrvatska - Bosna i Hercegovina - Crna Gora 2021-2027.
Događaju su prisustvovali visoki lokalni, državni i predstavnici Delegacije Evropske unije, predvođeni predsjednikom Opštine Ulcinj Gencijem Nimanbeguom, ministrom za ljudska i manjinska prava Fatmirom Đekom i Bernardom Bruneom, šefom sektora za saradnju Delegacije Evropske unije u Crnoj Gori, koji su tom prilikom zasadili autohtone sadnice nara.
Centralna manifestacija održana je u amfiteatru na Šasu, a otvorili su je mališani vrtića „Lastavica“.
Prisutnima su se obratili i zvaničnici koji su govorili o značaju obilježavanja Dana Evrope, ali i o važnosti očuvanja kulturno-istorijskih vrijednosti, u ovom slučaju arheološkog lokaliteta Šas.
Predsjednik Opštine Ulcinj, Genci Nimanbegu, istakao je da Dan Evrope nije samo dan Evropske unije, već i dan djece na Kosovu, u Ukrajini i svuda gdje još nijesmo dovoljno integrisani.
„Crna Gora je predvodnik u evropskim integracijama i ima podršku Evropske unije, i mi smo srećni zbog toga. Dugo smo se borili za ovaj korak, ali naša prava i dalje treba štititi, za njih se boriti i mnogo raditi, i za to nam je potrebna kontinuirana i snažnija podrška Vlade i evropskih institucija“, kazao je predsjednik Nimanbegu.
Ministar za ljudska i manjinska prava Fatmir Đeka naglasio je da su u prethodnom periodu sprovedene značajne reforme u oblasti zaštite i unapređenja ljudskih prava i sloboda, manjinskih prava i politike jednakih mogućnosti, sa ciljem dostizanja evropskih standarda i unapređenja kvaliteta života građana.
„Naša obaveza je da proces pristupanja uspješno privedemo kraju, ali i da obezbijedimo da svaki građanin i građanka, u svakoj opštini i svakom dijelu Crne Gore, osjeti njegove konkretne rezultate - kroz viši kvalitet života, više mogućnosti i sigurniju budućnost“, poručio je ministar Đeka.
Bernard Brune, šef sektora za saradnju Delegacije Evropske unije u Crnoj Gori, kazao je da Dan Evrope nosi jednostavnu, ali snažnu poruku - da su države i ljudi jači kada rade zajedno.
„Ta ideja oblikuje Evropu više od 70 godina i danas je jednako važna kao nekada. Tokom ovog mjeseca širom Crne Gore vidimo tu ideju na djelu - kroz kulturu, muziku, sport i lokalne tradicije, dok zajedno obilježavamo Dan Evrope širom zemlje. Ti trenuci okupljaju ljude. Oni Evropu čine bližom i opipljivijom. Pokazuju da Evropa nije nešto daleko, već nešto što zajedno gradimo svakoga dana - u našim selima, gradovima i naseljima“, rekao je gospodin Brune.
Amfiteatar, renoviran posebno za ovu priliku, sa jedinstvenim pogledom na Šasko jezero, bio je ispunjen ove večeri, a gosti su, osim degustacije tradicionalnih jela, uživali i u humorističkoj pozorišnoj predstavi „9 duša“, Teatra „Adriana“ iz Ferizaja.

On the Occasion of Europe Day and the Night of Fortresses, the Municipality of Ulcinj Began Infrastructure Works in Šas
The Municipality of Ulcinj marked May 9 - Europe Day with a diverse cultural and artistic program at the archaeological site of Šas. This event was organized within the framework of the manifestation “Night of Fortresses - Goes Green”, which this year was held simultaneously at 72 locations across 11 European countries, featuring around 230 different cultural and artistic programs.
On this occasion, the opening of infrastructure works at the archaeological site of Šas was also marked. The works are being carried out within the GIFTSnet project, financed by the European Union through the Interreg IPA Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro 2021-2027 Cross-Border Cooperation Programme.
The event was attended by high-ranking local and state officials, as well as representatives of the European Union Delegation, led by the President of the Municipality of Ulcinj, Genci Nimanbegu, the Minister for Human and Minority Rights, Fatmir Gjeka, and Bernard Brunet, Head of the Cooperation Sector of the European Union Delegation to Montenegro. They initially planted indigenous pomegranate saplings as part of the GIFTSnet project, while the Fushëpranvera area within the archaeological site of Šas was enriched with 15 local pomegranate trees.
The central event was held at the Šas amphitheater and was opened by the children - the “little pirates” from the kindergarten “Dallëndyshja” (“Swallow”), with an excellent performance that impressed all attendees, prepared by educator Arta Luka.
The attendees were also addressed by officials, who spoke about the importance of celebrating Europe Day and, at the same time, preserving cultural and historical heritage, particularly the archaeological site of Šas.
The President of the Municipality of Ulcinj, Genci Nimanbegu, emphasized that Europe Day is not only the day of the European Union, but also the day of children in Kosovo, Ukraine, and everywhere where integration is still insufficient.
“Montenegro is a frontrunner in European integration and enjoys the support of the European Union, and we are happy about that. We have fought for a long time for this step, but our rights still need to be protected, defended, and strengthened through continued hard work. For this, we need continuous and even stronger support from the Government and European institutions,” stated President Nimanbegu.
The Minister for Human and Minority Rights, Fatmir Gjeka, stressed that significant reforms have been implemented in recent years in the field of protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms, minority rights, and equal opportunities policies, with the aim of achieving European standards and improving the quality of life of citizens.
“Our obligation is to successfully complete the accession process, but also to ensure that every citizen, in every municipality and every part of Montenegro, feels its concrete results - through a higher quality of life, more opportunities, and a safer future,” Minister Gjeka stated.
Bernard Brunet, Head of the Cooperation Sector of the European Union Delegation to Montenegro, said that Europe Day carries a simple but powerful message: that states and people are stronger when they work together.
“That idea has shaped Europe for more than 70 years and is just as important today as it was in the past. Throughout this month across Montenegro, we see this idea in action - through culture, music, sports, and local traditions, as we celebrate Europe Day together across the country. These moments bring people together. They make Europe tangible. They show that Europe is not something distant, but something we build together every day - in our villages, towns, and communities,” said Mr. Brunet.
The amphitheater, specially renovated for this evening, with its unique view of Lake Šas, was filled with visitors, while guests, besides enjoying traditional food tastings, also enjoyed the humorous theatre performance “9 Souls” by the “Adriana” Theatre from Ferizaj.
The event Night of Fortresses Goes Green is part of the GIFTSnet project — Network for Green and Inclusive Fortified Tourism Solutions. The project started on 15 September 2024 and will last until 14 March 2027. The leader partner is Public Cultural Institution Fortress of Culture Šibenik, with partners: the City of Banja Luka, the Municipality of Bar, the City of Karlovac, the Public Institution Museum of Herzegovina Trebinje and the Municipality of Ulcinj.
The total value of the project is EUR 2,244,442.80, of which 85% is co-financed by the Interreg IPA Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro 2021-2027 Programme.
GIFTSnet will help improve the sustainable and inclusive development of cultural tourism in the programme area. This will be done through green and sustainable investments at seven cultural and tourist locations in Šibenik, Karlovac, Banja Luka, Trebinje, Bar and Ulcinj, the development of socially inclusive tourism offers, and the strengthening of cross-border partners’ capacities for sustainable cultural tourism.
